On February 1st, 2008, the Marc Steiner Show was cancelled. The months that followed have seen an outpouring of support from listeners via email and in daily public demonstrations outside of WYPR. But more needs to be done. WYPR needs to be held accountable.
Sign the petition to bring back the daily Marc Steiner Show, then check out Marc Steiner’s new weekly show each Wednesday 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on WEAA (81.9 FM). If you miss the WEAA show, podcasts will be available at The Center for Emerging Media.
In May 2008 WYPR attempted to close their board meeting through an announcement on their Web site at WYPR.org. At the last moment they relented, holding their May 21 board meeting in a small space at The Family Tree on 2108 N. Charles Street, in a room that only could fit eight members of the public. Unfair. Click here to send an email to all 21 members of the WYPR Board of Directors.
TAKE IT A Step Further. File a complaint about WYPR’s hostility to input from the public and Maryland community with Maryland Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin. Both already have written to the Corporation of Public Broadcasting (CPB) concerning WYPR’s violation of CPB funding rules. To email, visit their Web sites at http://mikulski.senate.gov/mailform.html and http://cardin.senate.gov/contact/.
